A male Siskin joined the usual Goldfinches on the Nyjer feeders this morning. Siskin is not a very common garden bird in BBH. Regards, Freddy |

I had a male Siskin in my garden in Rippingale today too, which is only the second record this winter. This week has been one of the best in the garden with Tree Sparrow, 2 Reed Buntings, Yellowhammer as well as the usual suspects. Ian |

Interesting. In March last year siskins were regular on my sunflower heart feeder at Woodhall Spa but I have waited in vain for them until last week when I had a male and two females and yesterday a single female. Oddly enough, like Ian, I had Tree sparrow, for the first time, a pair last week and a single twice this week. Though siskins were abundant in Woodhall in August and September they must have had sufficient natural food then as none came to my feeder. |

Last year was a phenomonal year for Siskins and I ringed over 300 in a garden near Osgodby. I have only seen a few in the same garden this year but there were 9 in my Market Rasen garden this morning. Historically, the end of March and the beginning of April has been the peak passage period here, so I hope this is just the start. |

Until last week I had waited three years to get Siskin back in the garden. A pair came which I was really happy about. They also visited again this Thursday and Friday [ photos just posted on album] each time about midday. Not sure if Siskin and Goldfinch are arch enemies but the Siskin seem to wait until the nyger feeder has no birds on it. Managed to video them feeding for a few minutes. Didn't see them today. Max |

At 0700 hrs on Sunday I saw 3 Siskins in the same larch tree in the garden with 5 Redwings in the same tree at the same time. So far the Siskins have not ventured on to the Nyger feeder but it is in almost constant use by 2 or 3 Goldfinches. Ian |

Not seen Siskin since Friday, but no shortage of Goldfinches on nyger feeder. Got new residents in the conifer at end of garden, never had Collared Dove nest before but had up to eight of them visiting, I must be doing something right. ![]() Max |
