Regarding the white-fronted geese, Another birdwatcher I met says he thinks these geese might be pink-feet rather than white-fronts, mentioning anomalies in relation to bill shape and darkness of upperpart plumage....

With regard to :

"Regarding the white-fronted geese, Another birdwatcher I met says he thinks these geese might be pink-feet rather than white-fronts, mentioning anomalies in relation to bill shape and darkness of upperpart plumage...."

You've been sadly misled by a complete novice Katherine, they are certainly white-fronted geese.

Cheers

Phil

Just to muddy the plot Katherine, 6 pink-footed geese turned up this morning on the wet grassland near the reservoir, so both they and white-fronted geese are now present.
