Took an afternoon walk round the reserve. Everyone I saw said the same thing, "quiet isn't it"

The snipe had all disappeared as had the curlew
Oystercatchers 3
Lapwing 300+
Greylag well over a hundred but couldn't make one into a white front
Buzzards probably 5
Kingfisher 1
Treecreeper 1

Messingham Sand Quarry. An attractive reserve with pleasant walks which has its fair share of good birds

GR: SE 908032
Habitat type: Wetland/Heathland

Location and Access

The reserve lies to the east of the B1400 Messingham-Kirton road. The entrance is opposite Scallow Grove Farm (look for electricity pylon). A track leads from the entrance to a small car park, where a waymarked circular route is indicated.
