Post subject:  Covenham Reservoir 20 Feb 12.30 - 1.30

Another new place for me - not at all what I expected! Didn't have time for more than a quick stroll along the western edge, and saw:
Barn owl - perched on a post down by the road
Coot - 6
Little grebe - 8
Goldeneye - 15
Smew - new one for me! Beautiful bird.
Redshank - 11
Cormorant - 1
Mallard - 7
Brent goose - just the one, flew low over the water south to north, then came back a few minutes later
Great crested grebe - 1
Magpie - 2
Pochard - only saw the one pair, but there were other ducks out on the water I couldn't make out enough to ID
Tufted duck - 12
Lapwing - c50 flying over
Long tailed tit - in the bushes down the side of the bank. Could only see the one, but could hear more.
Quite a lot over on the east side, but I wasn't near enough (or experienced enough) to say what they were
