Another new place for me - not at all what I expected! Didn't have time for more than a quick stroll along the western edge, and saw: Barn owl - perched on a post down by the road Coot - 6 Little grebe - 8 Goldeneye - 15 Smew - new one for me! Beautiful bird. Redshank - 11 Cormorant - 1 Mallard - 7 Brent goose - just the one, flew low over the water south to north, then came back a few minutes later Great crested grebe - 1 Magpie - 2 Pochard - only saw the one pair, but there were other ducks out on the water I couldn't make out enough to ID Tufted duck - 12 Lapwing - c50 flying over Long tailed tit - in the bushes down the side of the bank. Could only see the one, but could hear more. Quite a lot over on the east side, but I wasn't near enough (or experienced enough) to say what they were |
