Manby flashes extensively flooded and no birds of note. Covenham res at the lowest level we have ever seen! Smew 1 male in SE corner Goldeneye 68 Great Crested Grebe 75 Wigeon c200 Little Grebe c20 Walk from Stonebridge to Pye's Hall. Brent Goose c500 Greenshank 1 in Somercotes Haven Lapland Bunting 1 about 300m beyond Pye's Hall along sea bank towards Grainthorpe Haven. also Snow Bunting 16 between Stonebridge and first RAF control tower. More or less the same today. Couldn't find any Snow Buntings. Very pale hen Harrier at Pyres.Bean Goose was apparently showing but distant views.With memories of the Ibis trek last year I didn't go ![]() Smew showing well at Covenham. Manby - at least 7 Whoopers on the rape field east of lake. Nice Barn Owl on route to Manby. Good to have a full day out without the snow. Hugh |

Manby Flash: still extensively flooded with just small numbers of common wildfowl except - Whooper Swan 13 in field north of Flash. Covenham Reservoir: still at very low level apparently due to blocked inlet pipe! Water company trying to contact land owners for permission to dig up area on eastern side of res for repairs! Smew 1 drake in SE corner Goldeneye 70 Great Crested grebe 44 Redshank 29 Barn Owl 1 Pye's Hall: Little Egret 3 on Grainthorpe Marsh Greenshank 1 in Somercotes Haven - as usual Lapland Bunting 6 about 300m along sea wall towards Grainthorpe Haven in small uncultivated area with pools Brent Goose c1000 on Grainthorpe Marsh Regards, Colin and Sheila |
