The single Tundra Bean Goose was still on fields inland of the highland cattle enclosure approx. 2kms NNW of Howden's Pullover at lunchtime today Monday 9th Feb, with 6 Mute Swans.

Easy to pick out from the sea wall, looking inland - basically find the swans and you will find the goose! Check the weather, as thick sea mist prevented me from seeing the bird until lunchtime.....

This bird is believed to be, by Steve Lorand,the same individual that was present at Saltfleet Haven last autumn at the time the Desert Wheatear was around,and has been present on the fields at Donna since last November.

Still present today until 1.00pm at least but distant. With 2 Mute Swans inland from the "Ibis Pool" of last year. There was also a single Whooper Swan with 2 Mutes just North on the pools.

There was also a flock of 28 Snow Bunting showing well at Donna Nook together with a large flock of Twite (75+).

A single unseasonal Greenshank was on the Pyes Hall outfall and a male Hen Harrier showed briefly at about 3.30pm in the same area. No sign of any lapland Bunts.

The Tundra Bean and two Mutes were joined by the Whooper and still showing distantly from sea wall at 4pm at approx Grid Ref TF434974.

Also male and female Hen Harrier seen.

Hi Paul,The Greenshank has been wintering in the area for at least the past 3 years,possibly longer.

Still at the same spot 1pm today, with 5 mute swans (couldn't make out the Whooper as a strong wind was buffeting the scope and the distance was great. Could only just make out the Beanie as it was hunkered down in the crops.

To view, I think it's marginally shorter to walk from Stonebridge than from Howden's, though a more grisley route. We passed the corpses of at least 8 seals and a fox below the line of the dunes!
