Brief 45 mins with Dad today produced:
Mute Swan - 2 Little grebe - 7 Goldeneye - 2 female Mallard - usuals round the car park Wigeon - 500 Shelduck - 20 on shoreline
Canada Goose - few thousand on wetland Brent Goose - few thousand on wetland
Lapwing - many all over reserve Redshank - 20 Golden Plover - large flock of roughly 3000 on shoreline Snipe - 5 Curlew - several feeding on wetland
Goldfinch - 1 in VERY good voice in shrubs near car park Chaffinch - 1 semi-tame male in car park shrubs. Got to within 1.25 metres of it! House Sparrow - 5 male, 3 female Blackbird - 3 male, 1 female Great Tit - 6 Robin - 1 Starling - 40 or so on wetland with Canada Geese Mistle Thrush - 2 Pied Wagtail - 5
Black-headed Gull - usual lot around and about Herring Gull - group of 10 calling in flight over reserve Greater Black-backed Gull - 2
Kestrel - 1 hunting near Hobhole Drain Sparrowhawk - 1 near Cowbridge golf course
Magpie - 8 (seems to be increasing in number) Jackdaw - 8 Rook - small group in fields near Freiston village Wood Pigeon - usuals all over place Collared Dove - 20 at reserve, many more on way to reserve Rock Dove (Feral Pigeon) - usual group at reserve Pheasant - 8 in fields, 1 in grandmother's garden after reserve visit
Might be able to do an afternoon's birdwatching at Boston Cemetery tomorrow if weather is good enough.......
