Haxey and Wroot area - 22 Jan.(am) - with Freddy Johnson 47 Whooper Swan with a herd of 9 Mute Swan. 100 Lapwing in adjacent field to above. 25 Redwing. 16 Mute Swan(in a herd) c.1000Golden Plover over c.1000 Lapwing over. 20 Pink-feet over |

Max, I can help with your query. I was with Richard Gunn when we saw Whooper Swans as follows Autumn/Winter 08/09 : 30 Oct 08 38 Whooper Swans - c1 mile E of Wroot (a favourite area for them ) 22 Jan 09 47 Whooper Swans - E of Blaxton, c100 yds S of the B1396 (only c3 miles SW of the Wroot site and in the Lincs/Notts/S Yorks border area). Bewick's Swans had also been reported in the Blaxton area, but scanning of the herd only revealed Whoopers and a few Mute. Regards, Freddy |
