Whist sureying for the winter bird atlas today in the Saltfleet and Theddlethorpe area i covered 15 miles by bike and was interested to record 3 green sands 2 little egrets and 2 kingfishers in various ditches also a field with c 650 jackdaws and a herd of 47 mute swans feeding on oilseed rape. no redwings or fieldfares and only 21 blackbirds. Monica and I have covered a few miles on our bicycles over the last week mostly between Huttoft Pit and Gib searching for Golden Plovers. We have also had 3 Green Sands and 2 Kingfishers along the drains. There was almost certainly an American Golden Plover in the Golden Plover flock in that area about 10 days ago but conditions for a 100% ID were not good and then the whole flock moved off somewhere else so I'm leaving the record unclaimed. |
