We have got some Waxwings around (up to 40+ (total) reported these past few days in Lincoln and Grimsby) but clearly our main share is still in Yorkshire.

Still circa 20 Waxwings at the end of Tentercroft Street, Lincoln at 09:00 this morning (Thurs 27th), feeding on the pink-berried bushes next to the carpark..........and dodging cars to drink from puddles on Tentercroft Street!! Alan |

I was in Lincoln today (Thu 27 Nov) and couldn't resist making another visit to the Waxwing stake-out. 26 birds were mostly perching in a tall Plane tree next to the Fruit and Vegetable wholesalers at the bottom of Tentercroft Street. They were joined for a time by a charm of c10 Goldfinches. The Waxwings made only spasmodic visits to the 2 pale-berried Rowan trees, staying only 20 - 30 seconds in each "perch and grab" raid (12.00 - 12.40). Regards, Freddy |

Stewart, You say you are going to Leeds this weekend. If it helps, "Birdguides" today (09.54) reported 30 Waxwings on Thornhill Road, Armley,LEEDS. Further, if you have time to nip over to Halifax,there were 60 reported there around the A6036/A639/A58 Burdock Way roundabout this morning. Regards, Freddy |

Still 20+ Waxwings on Tentercroft Street Lincoln. They've now consumed about half the berries on the pink-berried rowan trees next to the car park entrance. The birds tend to sit high up in the adjacent sycamores, then every ten minutes or so, a party of half a dozen or so drop down to do a 30 second feeding raid. I expect these trees to only have suffiient berries to last to the middle of next week, so if you haven't seen them, this week-end may be your last chance. Alan |
