Neil Drinkall found a Leach's Petrel on the Humber off Winteringham Haven this morning. It lingered in the general are for a while but became elusive as the tide went out. Linda & I didn't get to see the bird but whilst looking for it found two juvenile Spoonbills on the mud beside Read's Island - easily viewable from the road. Unfortunately they got flushed by a Hercules aircraft that made a low run up the estuary and were last seen heading for Yorkshire. Lots of thrushes moving west today, I saw about 200 Redwings over my house in less that 5 minutes mid-morning. They were flying quite high and quickly. Fieldfares & Redwings were also moving west along the Humber Roy |
