About 6pm tonight at the rear of my property on rough pasture. 3 Tawny owls together which then split, one glided very close to where I was standing. It went down onto a small mammal and consumed the same then hopped up onto the nearby gate post within a few feet of where I was trying to make myself look as much like a gate post as possible. It sat preening itself for about 5 minutes before taking to the air again. It's the first time I have seen the local tawny's I have heard them many times but only seen, Barn Owls, Little and Short eared in the area. Great event for me. 2 Curlews flew over whilst I was watching the owls.

Hi Graham

You cant beat experiences like that can you?? I had a similar event last year, I was within a few feet of a Tawny early in the morning and it was magical :) :)
