Post subject:  Kirkby area

Spent the day in the Kirkby area simply because I cannot remember seeig a Treecreeper this year and I wanted it for my list.

Parked up at Ostlers plantation initially and saw several Treecreepers

Green Woodpecker (again several - getting on to double figures)
Great Spotted Woodpecker 4
Coal Tits (all over)
Goldcrest (plenty)
Willow Tit
Hobby (great view)

Moved onto the NNR hide where there was at least 400 Lapwing, 2 Black Tailed Godwit, a kingfisher and 4 Buzzards close to the hide. Told that there had been a peregrine harassing a small flock of Pink Foot earlier in the day

All in all a good day but I arrived home to find that there had been an Osprey within a few hundred yards of my garden. Peeved wasn't the first word that came to mind
