09.00-12.45. 5 Marsh Harrier(1 1st adult male,1 adult female and 3 juv's). 7 Curlew 8 Common Buzzard(including 1 cracking pale juvenile). 8 Kestrel 150+ Goldfinch 2 juv. Hobby(which gave excellant views,chasing hirundines,a Swift and each other). 17 Mistle Thrush 1 juv. Cuckoo Regards Steve. |

Hi Steve, The pale bird was probably the same bird seen by canadian Mike heading over that way from Risby Warren saturday, i had 4 Common buzzards over the w/end over risby warren edge viewed from rainham steel. . |

Hi Rog, If you get chance to go down to the Worlaby area,keep an eye out for it,as it is an absolute cracker.On the upperparts it has large pale carpal patches,and large white rump patch,and on the underparts it is white with a white head.I saw a similar bird a few years ago at Elsham,i wonder if it is one of it's offspring.According to the literature,the further north you travel in Europe,the more likely you are to encounter pale morph birds,it is only the second time i have ever seen one as pale as this.I iamgine you have a copy of Forsmanns,The Raptors of Europe and the Middle East,there is a similar bird on page 273,plate 319.
