I arrived there at 6.30am loadend up with gear and our new portable hide. After nearly 6 hours I had seen very little? The area I was in was so quiet apart from a couple of wren and willow warbler and the occasional call of a group of 4 Bullfinch. It was overcast til after lunch and quite windy. Normally I would walk around but the sheer weight of my rucksacks made this not an option so I stayed put!!
I was then rewarded with the sudden appearance of a hunting Kestrel which certainly lifted my spirits!!
Enroute I also saw a passing Marsh Harrier and a Kingfisher. It was worth it just for the close up view of one of my favourite birds the Kestrel :D A closer look at one of the photos shows it has a ring on left leg!
