Hi A pair of Ruddy Shelducks are on the Marsh Farm reservoir at Frampton Marsh this afternoon. These are presumably the same birds that were first seen on the nearby saltmarsh on May 1st, but have not been seen since, despite being looked for. Considering that they arrived with a notable influx of Caspian species to Britain (Black Lark, Calandra Lark, Caspian Plover - does that count as an influx?), maybe they deserve a bit of credibility. Or they could have gone back to their duck pond over the last fortnight for a few home comforts! Also a Quail singing from the mustard field next to the car park. Cheers, Paul. |

It might be of interest but three birds have been present on and off at Baston & Langtoft Pits/Baston Fen since March; in recent weeks only one has been present (a presumed first-summer bird). I suspect their origins are a little closer than the Caspian Sea ![]() |
