A Bittern seen just before I arrivedfrom duck hide,me and mal failed to see it thou,mal had 2 Long-eared owls,I saw 1,the huge flock of greylag geese flew in.

Biked to Messingham today, 53 mile round trip, but no sign of the Long-eared Owls. If they were present they were roosting out of sight, several other birders there but no one saw them whilst I was there.

Not sure what time of day it was when you went but have found after 2:00pm best viewing time as birds seem to move to outer branches to sunbathe later in the day. Even then they are still hard to see clearly.
