approx sixty pink feet this afternoon over cleethorpes market place. heading south east |

A skein of 32 south on1109 and 49 today at Saltfleet haven,plus 10 resting on the haven bank at 1045hrs, also 2 spotted redshank 3 greenshank,21 snipe in saltmarsh.little in dune scrub. John. |

Four skeins of Pink feet over Saltfleet Haven ca.300 birds this afternoon but missed the Snow Goose,it had already gone south. Also one Gannet close in,one adult Med Gull, five Artic Skua, one Kittiwake on beach. Just a few waders and terns. Geoff |

Are pink-feet a migratory species, and will they have reached Freiston Shore or Frampton Marsh by tomorrow? I need them for my life list! |

The Snow Goose has already reached Norfolk. Watching from Chapel Point between 11:30 and 18:45 we recorded over 4000 pink-feet heading south to Norfolk and also recorded the Snow Goose. Graham Hard & Derek Pell |

Chapel Point - my patch- not a bad place is it Graham?? Just wish I'd been watching today as well!! Katherine - the Pinks tend to make it as far South as Skegness and then most of them make a left turn and head across the Wash more or less at the narrowest point. However, keep your eyes open at Frieston tomorrow there may be some passing over. |

Of interest, the Snow Goose was tracked at the following locations today: 12.00 Filey, N.Yorks 12.20 Flamborough, E.Yorks - were I saw the bird along with Steve Routledge heading south with 87 Pinkfeet 12.29 Bridlington Bay, E.Yorks 13.35 Spurn, E.Yorks 14.35 Chapel Point, Lincs 15.20 Titchwell. Pink feet are quite scarce in the autumn at Freiston because they do exactly what Edmund said - head across to Norfolk from Gib. However, in mid January to February, they head back north to Lancashire and often cross directly over the reserves, and therefore straight over your house Katherine! Just keep an ear open for the distinctive "wink-wink" call. Very different from Canada and greylag geese. |
