Frustrating drive from Lincoln and back. Far too many tractors and caravans. When I am PM quarupled road tax and can only use the roads between 02:30 and 03:30

With the whinge over the birding was good

and not a single greenish warbler !

I went out to record the hirundine roost this evening;
swallow 1200
sand martin 300
and a spoonbill that flew north before returning back south - probably landed on Jackson's or Tennyson's

Upsetting is what you miss. Must have walked around with my eyes closed

I'd have missed them with my eyes open!

I was down from 0600. Walked in from the north end.
Also had Curlew Sand, 5 Common Sand, 2 Common Buzzard and a Wood Warbler (in the sycamores at the extreme north end between the lagoon and the golf course).

We were at Gibraltar Point from 08:05 until 20:20 on Saturday 25th and managed to record exactly 90 species of bird and twelve of Butterfly, and then we missed nine species that others had recorded. The interesting birds seen and not mentioned above or of impressive numbers were :-

We were too tired and exhausted to check out the Little Egret roost but good numbers appeared to be going into it and the hirundine pre roost was very impressive. Next time we should include the extreme north and south of the site and crack the 100 total. Graham Hardy & Derek Pell
