Goosander on Brayford - 26th June 6.00pm

There is a stunning Male Goosander on the Brayford, Central Lincoln tonight at 6.00pm. With the water level so high, it is almost swimming down the road! Worth a look, if not just to see the Brayford about to burst it banks and the University looking like a scene from a WWII movie, with all its sandbags! (Although correct me if I am wrong, but buying sand from B&Q, and leaving it in its plastic bags isn't quite the point, is it?)

I have never seen a Goosander on the Brayford in the Winter, so to record one in June is just crazy!

Hope everyone isn't too damp (and hope the Monty Chick's have survived, as I hope to cycle to see them this weekend..... :? )

All the best

Andrew

Still there at 20:20 with the swans in the railway crossing corner. It seems only slightly wary of humans - showing down to about a yard. Perhaps it wanted feeding.

The water levels look as though they are slghtly falling now

Lots of sightseers and cameras about. Unfortunately I went with a flat battery. Perhaps tomorrow morning will now be to late

A very confiding male Goosander was present in Hartsholme park till the late date of 19th May, this bird came to bread when people were feeding the ducks.
I suspect that this is probably the same bird.
