Gorgeous afternoon - ideal for a long walk - well for me at present 3 miles is pushing it
96 whooper swans counted. 65 in main flock, 15 on Bardney Pit and another flock of 16 Midday
At 15:30 the main flock had swollen to 81 and 10 had flown east towards Dunston Fen after failing to join the main flock

Tawny Owl heard from over the river

Golden Plover c260 (Dunston Fen)
Lapwing 300 (Dunston Fen)
Lapwing 150 (Bardney Pit)
Lapwing 250 (Nocton Fen)
Chaffinch (48 Dunston Fen)

Redwing 1
Pink-footed Goose c100 (Bardney Pit)
Greylag Goose c250 (Bardney Pit)
Shoveler c48 (Bardney Pit)
Grey Heron 2

Was also in the Dunston Fen area yesterday and also had the 10 whoopers in flight that Chris had plus the calling tawny owl. Also in area: 10 yellowhammers, 2 kingfishers and little egret.

55 Whoopers today. Also 2 Woodcock, Little Egret and 220 Lapwings. All on Birdtrack.
