Spotted Flycatcher seen in the grounds of The Dowager House Hotel (traditional site) on Spa Road this morning. Unusually, it was on wires at the front of the hotel by the main carpark and not at the rear or side over the lawns.
Also a Goldcrest feeding in a Fir Tree on Iddlesleigh Road, but no SpotFly seen around this traditional site.

For the record there is a Pair of Spotted Flycatchers now feeding young in Welton le Marsh Churchyard. They spend a lot of time in my garden as well.

It took me two and a half hours this morning searching Belton House park to find one spotted flycatcher, in the avenue leading to the tower, about 50 yards beyond the ha-ha at the end of the lawn. It rested for several minutes on a fallen dead branch before disappearing into the canopy. The strong wind made the conditions less than ideal.

On leaving Belton House I saw a kingfisher fly over the A 153 where it crosses the Witham.

Re Belton House - I found a separate pair there on 28 May - by a dead tree near the river just to the SW of the car park so separate to the one reported above. Also a pair of mandarin ducks on the river there.

Other spotted fly's at Temple Wood - still to find at some other locations

All recs on Birdtrack

In Dunsby, between Bourne and Sleaford, there are at least 3 pairs of spotted flycatchers in the space of 400 metres. A dairy herd, horse grazed paddocks and lots of mature trees make Dunsby the ideal village for flycatchers.

Hi Hugh,
Great to see Dunsby in the news for 2017 for Spotted Flycatchers. It is a very pleasant village and indeed, from past experience, an ideal one to enjoy sightings of this charismatic species.
