Despite the sand racing a few birds were around
1 Long-tailed Duck on the boating lake

40 Wigeon
24 Sanderling
1 juv Glaucous Gull

E of Gayton-le-Marsh behind Longlands Fm at TF452848 were c.60 Whooper Swans with Mutes, some in dips and others feeding so exact count not possible

Long-tailed Duck again on Mablethorpe boating lake today and c45 Velvet Scoter with Common Scoter on sea off Trusthorpe. 7 European White-fronted Geese with Gray Lags in field adjoining Chapel Pit.

there seems to be exceptional numbers of Velvets around this winter; I trust they have all been suitably grilled!

there were loads at titchwell 8 days ago, i have never seen velvets in such numbers

Grilled roasted or baked Graham they still taste awful ( could not resist it )
Yes there has been exceptional numbers of Velvets this winter Nige Lound has recorded
several counts of over 20 off south end of ST NNR.
