As I left the car park at Stixwould Station mid-afternoon today a very large flock of finches flew across the road from left to right and landed some distance off in a rape field. I estimate that there were about 800 - 1000 birds in the flock. I stopped and got the scope out but couldn't find them. Might be worth watching out for, if in the area. Roy |

Good luck with that Roy, virtually everyone down there this morning had one thing on their mind and that was to get to the Diver and then back to car. I doubt many could tell you how many Whoppers there were! I walked back down the bank (field side) but only had a small flock of buntings, pipits and wagtails. Would have certainly stopped if I'd seen the big finch flock. Cheers James |
