As I left the car park at Stixwould Station mid-afternoon today a very large flock of finches flew across the road from left to right and landed some distance off in a rape field. I estimate that there were about 800 - 1000 birds in the flock. I stopped and got the scope out but couldn't find them.

Might be worth watching out for, if in the area.

Good luck with that Roy, virtually everyone down there this morning had one thing on their mind and that was to get to the Diver and then back to car.

I doubt many could tell you how many Whoppers there were! I walked back down the bank (field side) but only had a small flock of buntings, pipits and wagtails. Would have certainly stopped if I'd seen the big finch flock.

Cheers
James
