Following on from Stephen's bird at Donna Nook, Nárgila and I had a tristis Chiffchaff at Marston this afternoon, sound recs and images here:

Plenty of peeping cheeping Chiffys about this Autumn. I have listened to your recordings and the call sounds the same as many that I heard in my garden during August and September. I am in Southern Spain at the moment and have heard a similar call within the last hour. Plumage - well that is a different story.

any recordings Edmund? tristis is a placeholder with this bird for the time being, plumage was very monochrome - e.g. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/38041 ... 1477382703 but the note shape is longer and less symmetrical that I'd like to see for tristis. May have come from further west....
