Alkborough Whoopers really. At 1730, a flock rose from Alk Flats and headed south over our house, disintegrated when it reached the powerlines over the Trent but reformed and carried on with no casualties towards the south-east. Difficult to count but I thought it was 52 birds; maybe someone counted them better over the river.

Also 15 went in the same direction at about 1730 on the 19th.

It so happens that I am working on the Whooper entry for the 2015 Lincolnshire bird report today. The first report of more than 15 last autumn was 44 at Gib on 23rd Oct, and that was not surpassed until 54 at Crook Bank, nr Theddlethorpe on 9th Nov. However, 2015 may have been a latish year.
