This afternoon as i was looking for Little Owls along an old hawthorn hedge, interspersed with the odd Ash tree, i came across a section that was festooned with ivy.
I noticed a lot of droppings in a small area and peered up into the ivy, three feet from my face a Barn Owl was roosting, eyes closed, seemingly oblivious to my presence. I watched it for 15 mins and could literally have stroked it.
Due to it being deep in the ivy, and so close, the telephoto lens was redundant, i reached for my phone to take a picture but quickly realised i'd forgotten to bring it! I have never seen a wild Barn Owl as close as this, what a privilege.

Cheers,

Oliver.
