A new personal record achieved today, a total of 105 species recorded from 0500-2100hrs, a bit of a fall of migrants was evident today, with some very surprising discoveries! The species are as follows; Wood Pigeon 50 Blackbird 3 Jackdaw 30 Robin 5 Little Egret 33 (out of roost at dawn) Wren 10 GBBGull 200 BHGull 1000 Herring Gull 300 Sedge Warbler 2 Common Gull 30 Grey Partridge 1 Common Sandpiper 4 (River Steeping) Black-tailed Godwit 345 Whimbrel 71(30S) Curlew 600 Linnet 14 Swift 300S Sand Martin 500S Pheasant 1 Redshank 645 Oystercatcher 4260 Sandwich Tern 1300(300S) Swallow 200 Kestrel 2 Meadow Pipit 66 Pink-footed Goose 1 Marsh Harrier 2 (Ad female and juv) Eider 18 Reed Bunting 1 Dunlin 3000 Shelduck 150 Ringed Plover 140 Sanderling 4000 Turnstone 13 Knot 20000 Peregrine 1 (Ad male) Yellow Wagtail 6 Greenshank 9 Avocet 35 Magpie 12 Goldcrest 1 Hobby 1 (Carrying a Skylark at high tide) Skylark 4 Gannet 20 Pied Wagtail 30 Stock Dove 2 Common Scoter 18 Common Tern 98 Cormorant 40 Mallard 168 Grey Heron 1 Common Buzzard 1 LBBGull 10 Greylag Goose 20 Starling 3 Little Tern 30 (Mostly juvenile birds) SPOONBILL 1 Wheatear 4 (first of the autumn) Ruff 2S Carrion Crow 3 Grey Plover 145 Lapwing 200 Bar-tailed Godwit 3 Whitethroat 10 Golden Plover 1 (In off the sea) Willow Warbler 25 Dunnock 13 Goldfinch 6 Blue Tit 30 Teal 50 Lesser Whitethroat 5 Arctic Skua 1 WOOD WARBLER 1 (East Dunes) Mistle Thrush 21 (Roaming flock) Great Tit 4 House Martin 15 Green Sandpiper 3 Long-tailed Tit 5 REDSTART 4 (1 very spotty juvenile) GREEN WOODPECKER 1 (Juv) Sparrohawk 4 Turtle Dove 3 Greenfinch 60 Little Grebe 3 Mute Swan 2 Coot 10 Moorhen 2 Tufted Duck 12 Gadwall 9 Chaffinch 15 Chiffchaff 2 Canada Goose 50 Reed Warbler 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 MARSH TIT 1 (I heard a possible Marsh Tit yesterday, seen today for the first time, in the Plantation, behind the Yacht Club) Blackcap 1 KINGFISHER 1 Wood Sandpiper 1 Mediterranean Gull 1 adult Snipe 1 Fulmar 1 WHITE RUMPED SANDPIPER at Greenshanks Creek this evening at high tide, seen well in flight and briefly on he deck, in very good light Arctic Tern 2 Barn Owl 1 Also a possible 'Pectoral Sandpiper' south offshore with a single Knot, Dunlin sized wader, with distinct superilium and strong breast streaking, not included in final. I remember seeing a marsh tit about twenty years ago between the shore bird warden"s hut and the ringing hut. It was a most unexpected surprise. Again it was its song that alerted me to it Nice list |

Marsh Tit still present this evening (13th) in the orchard/Plantation, bird heard calling a few times Also, a first-winter Yellow-legged Gull on Tennyson Sands this morning Cheers, Richard |
