It was a pleasant morning straight after the overnight rain and just ahead of the hurricane's tail-end. The WeBS count between Stonebridge and Pye's Hall from 0445-0645 does not include any birds on the realignment area. Waders were 365 Oystercatchers, 13 Curlews, 35 Whimbrels, 34 Bar-tailed Godwits, 31 Grey Plovers, 5 Turnstones, 15 Sanderlings, 47 Redshanks, Greenshank, 30 Knot, 50 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plovers and a Common Sandpiper. 97 Common Terns in three groups flew south shortly after first light, but only 11 Sandwich Terns were seen along with 2 Mediterranean Gulls, 3 Arctic Skuas and a Gannet. Other highlights included an Osprey and a Merlin both sitting on posts on the shore, and a Tawny Owl on the dunes.

There were 2 Turtle Doves in near the Old Hall in Grainthorpe village yesterday afternoon.
