No sign of yesterday's Spotted Crake (seen by Dean Nicholson briefly in front of hide at 14:00) but at least 2 Water Rails with 1 young. I cleared some of the vegetation in front of the hide to enable the area to be seen better but despite spending yesterday evening till 21:00 and this morning from 06:00 no sign. 1 Spotted Flycatcher in hedge just north of Catchwater bridge, also Blackcap, Whitethroat & singing Willow Warbler in same area. |

Spotted Flycatcher still present early afternoon. Also immature Redstart and Lesser Whitethroat in same hedge and Yellow Wagtail flew over. |

Many thanks for the telecall this morning, Andy. I was on site from 10.15am. The Spotfly had worked its way down the hedge c.200 yards and was performing well. A flash of red caught my eye : an immature Redstart appeared. Also : Yellowhammer Whitethroat Willow Warbler Goldfinch Swallow (perched on bush). Freddy |

Redstart still present this morning but no sign of Spotted Flycatcher. |

2 Redstarts in elders this morning, showing well in sun, feeding on insects and elderberries. Also in same hedge 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Willow Warblers, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Yellowhammers, 3 Robins, 1 Dunnock, 2 Great Tits, 1 Blue Tit, c15 Goldfinches, 2 Greenfinches, 1 Wren and 4 Swallows perched on elders. |
