The same passage was in evidence at Donna Nook this morning with ten skeins of Pinkfeet totalling 830 birds south, plus another skein of 26 which turned back to the NW. A record daily count of Whooper Swans was achieved when five flocks totalling 114 birds was noted. Another party was heard on the opposite side of the dunes to me, but had passed by the time I was able to reach the other side. 59 of the swans landed and rested on the mudflats, and were still there when I left at 1315.

5 Sparrowhawks flew south along the dunes during the morning and the first 6 Twite of the autumn made a belated appearance.

A herd of over 100 Whooper Swans flying SE between North Cotes and North Somercotes at 0845 reported to me by Mark Johnson. At that time, only 26 had gone south through Donna Nook.

I was on Mill Hill at Gib from 0730 to 1015 this morning with KMW and RKW, we too had a Whooper fest with groups of 32,30,5, 15, 9 15, 23, 25, 22 and 26 totalling 182 birds all going south/,south west. Didn't see or hear any Pinkies today until 1620 when 120 went south over Middlemarsh.

A family group of 2 adults and 3 juvenile Whoopers were resting/feeding this morning on a wheat field adjacent the R. Bain just upstream of 'Shearmans Wath' bridge in the parish of Edlington.

Belated report from last Sat/Sun was a single curlew overflying the B1195 at Winceby on both days near the country park entrance at Snipe Dales.
