With apologies to Freddy as the first two reports are belated. Whisby village 17/12/2012 8 Waxwing (2 adults 6 first years) Dunholme village 18/12/2012 48 Waxwing (photo emailed to Whisby NR by Phil Busby) Whisby Nature Reserve 21/12/2012 11 (1 adult 10 first years) in Redlands Old Yard this afternoon. Out of interest 2 adult Whooper Swans in the Willow Lake area (if not on the lake then in the fields to the north) have been around since early Nov (don't normally winter around Whisby). Before anyone asks these are not the 'plastic' Whoopers from the nearby Garden Centre!!! Those birds are still in their pen! Regards Grahame |

Grahame, This morning (Sun), I parked in Whisby village c.11.00 and used the old metalled/gravelled track to access Redlands Old Yard. Local birders, Colin and Julie, were there plus 1 other. There were hundreds of shiny Rosehips but the Waxwings didn't show. Doubtless, they'll be back sooner or later. ![]() Regards, Freddy |
