Knaith near Gainsborough
9.30am 15th Dec
10 Waxwings sitting in neighbours cherry tree then moved some 50 metres adjacent to my garden. 2 then flew into my front garden onto a fruit laden Malus 'Red Sentinel' crab apple. Finally a garden tick! They didn't hang around though.
A flock of 20-30 waxwings then seen at 2.20pm in a large tree at the crossroads Newton on Trent/Dunham bridge road
Also 3 Red kites seen en route to Peterborough adjacent to A1

15 Waxwings landed briefly in my neighbours garden cherry tree but soon scooted off.

Further to Ian's report of Waxwings seen at the Newton-on-Trent/Dunham Bridge road crossroads (A57) yesterday (Sat), I spent an hour there today from midday. The total number of Waxwings seen was 11, usually as ones and twos mainly strung out along the Collingham side of the crossroads on wires, treetops and TV aerials.

The main Waxwing attraction which occasionally brought most of them together was an Apple Tree in the garden of "Nursery Cottage" by the crossroads on the right of the road when one is travelling from Lincoln towards Dunham Bridge. The tree had dozens of large, ripe apples gleaming in the sun and they should last for days. Next to it was a Holly Tree with prominent red berries which had attracted up to a dozen Redwings. Many of the Waxwings between apple forays were aerial flycatching from the tops of nearby trees, especially along Collingham Road.

On the way to Newark this morning there were approx. 20 Waxwings in a tree 100yds on the Gainsborough side of the crossroads at Newton on Trent and 10/12 in a lay by 3 miles further on.
