Walked across Swanholme after dropping my car off for its MOT. I don't know why I am always surprised when lakes freeze at this time of year but once again I was. About 75% of the water was covered by ice A pair of Goosander was the highlight Jay 2 Wigeon c150 Gadwall c50 Tufted Duck c50 Mallard 34 Pochard 1 Great Crested Grebe 4 Teal 6 Coot c100 Moorhen 1 Grey Heron 3 Blue Tit 12 House Sparrow 4 Dunnock 4 Great Tit Chaffinch Robin 6 I wonder if there will be much different when I go to pick up the car and pay the bill? |

Walk across the lakes today to pick my car up. All ice had thawed 22 goosander 10 males & 12 females red crested pochard 1 pair grey heron 1 shoveler 7 pairs gadwall c50 teal 4 |
