Hi,

Four Bearded Tits in the reeds on the far of the Reedbed from the visitor centre this morning. They were first seen yesterday and represent the first non-fly over birds for the reserve. Hopefully they'll be a regular sight from now on. We also introduced 5000 Rudd last week thanks to the Environment Agency, so keep a look out for Bittern...

Cheers,

John

The Rudd will soon be 50,000, they breed like....Rudd ! Are they in the reed bed lagoon or in the FW dykes too ?

I have to agree about the rudd. In November 2009, I introduced 23 '4 inch' individuals into my garden pond and after only 3 breeding seasons there are now more than 1,000. One is almost sucked into the water at feeding times.

They're just in the Reedbed. Let's hope the Bitterns approve of their rabbitesque breeding reputation.
