An interesting seawatch 0715-0930, with most of the movement concentrated before 0845. Moving north were 30 Little Auks, Razorbill, 4 Red-throated Divers, Great Northern Diver, 2 Gannets, 18 Brent Geese, 110 Teal, 270 Wigeon, 6 Tufted Ducks, 8 Goldeneyes, 22 Shelducks, Shag and 2 Great Crested Grebes. To the south were 3 more Little Auks which flew over the mudflats, plus 59 Brent Geese, 82 Pink-footed Geese, 90 Common Scoters, Velvet Scoter, 2 Long-tailed Ducks, 6 Eiders, Gannet and 26 Cormorants. A fine Red-necked Grebe was on the sea close inshore. 265 Starlings arrived from the sea along with 3 Blackbirds, Song Thrush and Lapland Bunting. A further 4,800 Starlings were on the dunes where other species included 170 Blackbirds, Ring Ouzel, 20 Robins, 10 Goldcrests, 5 Chiffchaffs, Swallow, 800 Golden Plovers, 260 Lapwings, 7 Whooper Swans, 150 Brent Geese, Jay, Common Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawks, Marsh Harrier and Peregrine. |
