update -- it walked out of sight under the near edge of a large bed of reeds into an area that cannot be seen from anywhere, I tried very hard, and although all the Teal flew out it never reappeared and was not seen again until dark - it is presumably still there somewhere but as the spring tides have now passed and the site is not getting inundated then there is an aweful lot of suitable mud amongst a lot of vegetation some of which is visible and a lot that is not -- you may get lucky or like most of us you may spend days there and see nothing but all credit to ND who spends more hours there than can be imagined before work, after work and weekends and for his effort over 4 months of this autumn he has had one brief and distant Pec before this dowitcher which was typically elusive -- tidal state will be irrelevant but a well positioned Marsh Harrier might be essential

Thanks for that Graham. I only asked as the Linc's coastline appears devoid of birds and I was thinking of birding the Humber today, before the easterlies arrive on Saturday and something good turns up on 'Toby's Hill'

A further update.
The Long-billed Dowicher shown intermittently this morning at a range of about 400 metres
until about 10.45 when it flew into an area where it could not be viewed. There had been no
further sign of it when I left at 2 pm.
