R-B Flycatcher in sycamores in copse on bend in road. just beyond lock 8-45am. Also Pied & Spot. Fly present.

At Tetney Outfall Sluice - 3 Spot Flys., 2 Redstart, 1 Pied Flycatcher.11am.

mr evans saw the r-b-fly around 11 ish met an interesting man who told me that the tetney rspb reserve warden found the bird and then unlocked the gate and drove down the access road to tetney marsh, is that you ?? or was mike with you ??. it is an interesting situation that the very thing that i have been asking for 5 years approx including lobbying at national level eg access to tetney marsh for the local group has not been forthcoming. could you please clarify the position for me, the local group will feel very snubbed by this development after many years of contributions to blacktoft.

RB Flycatcher in plantation, seabank scrub and trees at Louth Canal end of Commissioners' Bank (ie seabank betweek Humberston Fitties and Tetney Haven/Louth Canal) mid afternoon. Previously no sign, early afternoon, of this morning's bird in the 'orchard' trees. Also present in Commissioners' Bank scrub, 5 redstarts, 3 spotted flys, 1 pied fly, 4 robins. Also 2 marsh harriers over fields North Cotes side of Louth Canal.

Hi Ian.
Just wondered if either you or anyone else noted another Pied Flycatcher type in the orchard today.

The R-B Fly. I found at 9am this morning, was reported still present till 11am at least but neither birds were seen again by me at least from 11-30am on my return to the Orchard. Despite searching.

Earlier the R-B Fly. was in company for a time with another very elusive 'Pied Flycatcher type' bird. That appeared to be quite grey from behind and to have very little white in its wing than a bog standard Pied Fly, other than a larger than expected white patch on its primary coverts. ???

Be very nice for bird watchers to get access to this RSPB bird reserve financed by the public and with no little terns left which is why it was made into a reserve in the first place. So what's the holdup?

didnt see the r/b fly after being attacked by robins, it went round the north side of the orchard with a robin in hot pursuit about 10.40 ish. didnt see again, i left about 11 myself and old chap with 2 black labradors did likewise.

Thanks for that Terry. It flew out of the orchard more than once while I was watching it, even flying some distance towards the coast on two occasions, before coming back. Possibly the same bird seen later at the sluice bushes.
Did you see the other more elusive Flycatcher sp. that I mentioned in my earlier post, also seen in the orchard?

No flycatchers in the 'orchard' when I was there, around 2 - 2:30pm, Derick. The only pied fly I saw yesterday was mid way along Commissioners' Bank and didn't look in any way unusual.
