Any decent numbers of Dunlin Kev? There seems to be a real lack of Dunlin in the Inner Humber at least this autumn and als a real lack of Redshank. |

The dearth of Dunlin and Redshanks is also apparent in the outer Humber. Several other wader species are in fairly poor numbers, too. |

Hi 5250 dunlin yesterday - not a particularly accurate count as many waders were already at the roost by 0710 - RD may have a better idea. This morning 4970 dunlin on a lower tide. Both figures are not very high for here although we rarely get near 10,000 dunlin here. Grey plover starting to build up now - 2120 this morning. Many gannets ofshore, single black tern south and a line of three skuas north - an arctic, a bonxie and a juv Pom ! An imm male marsh harrier came in off the sea and was mobbed by a merlin, both flushed the knot flock - 70,000 Incoming wldfowl including 26 pintail. Mipits and hirundines moving south again. An awesome couple of hours in light drizzle ! Kev |
