Sunday 26th August Hemingby:- Flock of 5 curlew flying north upstream over R.Bain towards Baumber Mill. Shearmans Wath, West Ashby:- 11 Teal 2 Grey Heron 7 Green Sandpiper 10 Snipe Baumber:- 1900hrs Suprised to find an unseasonal Short Eared Owl sitting on a swath of straw on a newly harvested barley field. Like you Stuart I am a Yellowbelly through and through and am a keen student of our local dialect and practise it whenever I can although I don't think the word 'Swath' is particularly 'Linkisheer', phonetically it would most likely be 'Swaath'! Mike |
