The best birds at the south end this morning included 136 Common Terns, 6 Arctic Terns, 58 Sandwich Terns, 2 Black Terns, juvenile Mediterranean Gull, 4 Arctic Skuas, 21 Cormorants, 113 Oystercatchers and 52 Curlews. Other species of wader were in rather low numbers. A young Peregrine stooped at a party of Sanderling and separated one bird from the rest before chasing it over the sea without success. 320 Swallows and 9 Sand Martins flew south along the dunes where 2 Little Egrets, 2 Marsh Harriers and 8 Kestrels were present. |
