A very pleasant morning. Highlights were;
Turtle Dove (on wires at car park to 09.15)
Little Egret 8
Cormorant 6
Mallard
Teal
Wigeon
Shoveler
Greylag (100+)
Canada Goose
Sparrowhawk
Kestrel
Common Buzzard (3)
Lapwing
Black tailed Godwit
Ruff (4)
Greenshank
Green Sandpiper
Common Sandpiper
Wood Sandpiper ( showing very well in pool immediately in front of hide. Down to 10 yards!)
Cuckoo
Snipe

There was also a raptor which appeared mid morning with 2 Common Buzzards. They came towards the hide, the remaining bird did not. It remained quite distant. It was buzzard sized and brown above but pale beneath with no obvious wing markings. It was mobbed by smaller birds and climbed steadily away towards Lincoln. I could not get the scope on it and my view was through bins as it flew away. I could not make out any particular features. It had flat, not raised wings and a "sparrowhawk type" flap and glide flight pattern . I am reasonably familiar with the regular raptors and this did not tick any of the boxes. It was certanly not a buzzard . My thoughts were of Goshawk, but this seems very unlikely and I am not staking any claim. Any suggestions please?
