FISKERTON SCRAPES (12.8.2012): Greylag geese(30), Whooper Swan, Lapwings, mallards, Jack Snipe(3), and oystercatcher.

Interesting site. This is only my second visit. Who provided the hide, by the way?

Hi Aiden

The site is owned by "Hugh Bourne Farming" who have provided the hide and allowed access.

P.S. I know some people refer to Common Snipe as Jack Snipe, were your's the real thing? if so that is a good record for the site as I do not think any have been recorded before there.

Hi Russell,

I cannot be sure they were Jack snipe, the light was quite poor by this time, however they did appear rather small, and this is the
only thing I could go on. They were very keen to go into the reeds and hide! Perhaps you could attempt to verify?

They are very unlikely to be Jack Snipe as they are a scarce passage migrant and winter visitor and are not generally recorded in August, if at all.
