Interesting afternoon at Alkborough with some good birds. Just a little cool for tee-shirt and shorts though!
Ruddy Shelduck 3 in front of the hide
Bittern on the path down to the river hide and then flushed from the ditch close by the hide
Avocet C500 probably as many as I have ever seen in one flock
Bar Tailed & Black Tailed Godwits in good numbers. 50 + each
Ruff 1 - with a white face looking slightly odd
Greenshank 5
Redshank 2
Curlew 10
Lapwing 30+
Shelduck 44
Yellow Wagtail 10+ all juveniles
Marsh Harrier 2 disturbing the Avocets at one stage
House Martin
Swallow
Swift
Linnet

as above plus 2 whimbrel
2 marsh harrier over farmland a few mile away east.
a fair few avocet there, :D

2, (first year and f ) marsh harriers south towards Howdens pullover Skidbrooke, about midday.
