John Walker & I did a wader count at midday on the neap high tide:

Curlew 190+
Whimbrel 33
Oystercatcher 26 with further 18>S
Turnstone 3
Ringed Plover 1
Dunlin 96
Bar-tailed Godwits 2 > S
Golden Plover 12
Redshank 45
Greenshank 1
Shelduck 6 with a further 2 flying juvs and 11flightless juvs in creeks**
Common Scoter 8 >S
Cormorant 5
Gannet 1 >N
Little Egret 6
LB-b G 3
H Gull 12
B-h Gull 30+ with further 30+ on wash land
Common Gull 0 but.............................................
Arctic Skua 2 >S dark phase
Commic Terns 20+ distant on beach, but 2 on wash land
Sandwich Tern 350+ (note 250+ still out at Brickyard this evening so 600+ across reserve)
Little Tern 4

** over the past 3 weeks, I've had creches of shelduck at Tetney marsh, Grainthorpe marsh and Rimac marsh, so at least some successful birds on coast.
