I did my first BBS square this morning and was delighted to find a male Ring Ouzel at Laughton near Temple Wood. Most migrants seem to have arrived at last; Willow Warblers in good numbers, Whitethroats and Lesser Whitethroats, a calling Cuckoo, just one resident Swallow but others flying low across the fields into a brisk northerly breeze. Also a good haul of mammals: fox, muntjac, rabbit and hare.
