A couple of hours this p.m. produced: 20+Swallows, 20+ Sand Martins, 1 House Martin, 2 Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Reed and Sedge Warbler, Blackcap, 4 Common Tern, 2/3 LRP, 2 Avocet, a pair of Wigeon plus a "fly through" Great Skua with a light blue darvic ring on its left leg. The bird landed briefly on the large island at the far end of the lagoon, where it fed on some carrion for a short period, before flying in front of the hide and off high to the south. There is a long term ringing scheme on Handa Island which may be the birthplace of this bird. I have emailed for more information. Cheers, David Cohen. |

Popped in to the hide today on the way between two offices and your Bonxie reappeared at 3.00pm."Lucky" Russ Telfer was also in the hide with his camera and he has taken some good pictures. Also there was a Reed Warbler singing - my first of the year, Sedge Warbler, Blackcap, Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs and Common Terns. A very productive 5 minute visit! Ian |
