Another cold and wet morning on the patch:-
3 Shelduck, 2 males.
1 male Shoveler.
2 male Gadwall.
9 Tufted Duck.
13 Herring Gulls flew W.
5 Arctic Terns. 2 flew in at 10:10 and started dip feeding, at 11:05 they were briefly joined by a 3rd bird which then flew off E. 2 more, 1 with broken RH tail streamer, flew in at 12:03 and all 4 then flew off E at 12:05. At 12:08 2 flew back in, including 1 with broken RH tail streamer, and then flew off again, to W, at 12:10.
1 Cuckoo singing.
7 Swifts through but none lingered.
c40 Swallows feeding low over mere, these had reduced to c10 by 12:30.
8 House Martins.
3 Whitethroats.
4 Reed Warblers singing.
1 female Wheatear on field S of Catchwater drain.
