Joe Pell is not a member of the birdclub, so he has no access to the forum. However, he sent me the following email.... "The female King Eider was originally ID'ed as a female Eider duck and at the same time, there was a flock of Scoters and Velvet Scoter flying round and we were taking pictures of them all. Tonight, I got an email from Steve Keightley and he was talking to Neil Smith about a bird that looked good for a female Eider. I checked my photos and found the bird and got the news out as soon as I found out it was a King Eider regardless of how late it may be. The bird may be quite difficult to view from land as it was about a mile out at sea nr Wrangle Marshes." I wasn't on the trip, and I have no further information.... |

Do the Eiders in the area come closer in shore on spring tides or during any specific weather conditions to offer hope of a sighting from land and if so do local observers have an idea of where is the best spot to search from? |
