Post subject:  Lincoln Housemartins Sunday 22nd

Woke up this morning and the first bird I saw was a male blackcap - city centre Lincoln. Yesterday I had a willow warbler and chiff chaff together in the same small birch tree. Brilliant birds in my neck of the woods.
Driving back from Bardney this evening I noticed a large number of hirundines flying above Lincoln Sewarage Works, left hand side of the road travelling from Washingborough, so I pulled over and stopped....and in amongst the mainly swallows were lots of Housemartins - my first of the year. There must have been 200 - 250 birds (mainly swallows) swirling/feeding above the settling ponds.

Matthew.
